On 20th of June this year, the Economic Department of the Embassy (Janet Alberda, Head Economic Department and Trade/Economic Officer Maia Todria) visited the Dutch-Georgian company “Netherlands Georgia Orthopaedics” that was established in 2006.

The company is located in Tbilisi and produces upper leather parts for orthopaedic shoes. All the materials, as well as a working equipment, are imported from the Netherlands. N.G.O. receives orders from the Netherlands, prepares the upper leather parts of the shoes in Georgia and sends them back to Holland. Total procedure takes approximately two weeks time. At the time of the visit, the company receives roughly 250 orders a month. One of their biggest partner and customer in the Netherlands is ZSM Maatwerk.

At present, there are 22 employees in the company (doubled in comparison with last year) and the visit showed a grown company that has achieved certain successes. The employees receive periodical trainings in the Netherlands. According to the Director, Mr. David Golijashvili, the company is already well known in this specific market, despite the fact that it is relatively young.  In future the company plans to obtain its own building, widen the production capacity and settle a finished shoes production.
