On 23 January 2008, a visit was made to a greenhouse in Armenia that started out as a PSO project. Deputy Head of Mission Janet Alberda and Trade / Economic Officer Maia Todria met with the owner of the greenhouse and the local Agrico / Coppens representative Mr Hovakimian.  The project aimed to target greenhouse flower cultivation and marketing in Armenia. The greenhouse visited is now exporting flowers and vegetables to mostly the Russian market.

Overall, the food processing and flower industry is developing quite rapidly in Armenia. With an export market in place as well as good transportation channels to Russia, there is a demand to establish more greenhouses.
