Ministers to attend Afghanistan conference in London
Foreign affairs minister Maxime Verhagen and development cooperation minister Bert Koenders will take part in the international conference on Afghanistan to be held in London on 28 January 2010.

The conference will take place under the auspices of the United Nations and be opened by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

The delegates will come from Afghanistan's neighbouring countries, other countries in the region, and countries contributing to NATO's International Stabilisation Force in Afghanistan (ISAF). They will discuss how the Afghan government can be assisted in training the army and police, fighting corruption, and building an effective public administration.

On Wednesday 27 January, Mr Verhagen and Mr Koenders will take part in a separate conference, also in London, to discuss Yemen.
